The practice of giving thanks
pastor corner

In the Bible we are told numerous times that we should give thanks to God in both the Old and New Testaments. For example, Psalm 92:1 reads like this, “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord”. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 we are told to “Give thanks in all circumstances”.

A key reason why we don’t get into the practice of giving thanks is that we take so many blessings for granted.

We drink clean water, eat food, put on our clothes and live in our homes without realizing that so much of the world would look at what we have as a luxury. If we have good eyesight and have no problem hearing we need to give thanks because there are those that don’t. We also can take our freedom for granted, not thinking about the fact that it came with a price. If a person is a believer in Jesus, that person has the most to be thankful for: peace, the forgiveness of sins and eternal life.

Take the time each and every day to thank God for His goodness that is shown to us in so many ways.
