I am very grateful to have a job working at the Bryan County News. Working at the paper has been a lot of fun and it taught me much about Journalism. Being able to report for my community has been a great experience for me.
I would like to thank our past editor Jeff Whitten for allowing me to work here. I’m extremely thankful for this opportunity. I would also like to thank the readers for supporting my work on the paper.
As I move towards my future, I will use the skills that I learned from the paper in my future career. I’m confident that my skills in writing, photography, and interviewing have improved a lot.
After High School, I plan to go to Statesboro to attend Georgia Southern. From there I will get a degree in Multimedia Journalism.
Before I end this letter, I want to bring up a quote from the late CBS anchorman, Walter Cronkite, “Journalism is what we need to make democracy work.” This quote means so much to me, journalism is the backbone of free speech. Without journalism, you can‘t have free speech.
I’m going to miss working here, but some good things have to end. I’m glad that I was able to serve my community through my stories. I hope that someday I can come back to visit.
