Joseph was the son of Jacob, who was the grandson of Abraham, who is described as the father of our faith. During his life he went through so many disappointments.
David put it this way in Psalm 105:19, “The word of the Lord tested him”. He as the favored child was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers. He then was falsely accused of attempted rape and thrown into prison. In prison, he was able to interpret the dream of the cup bearer of the king who was going to be restored to this high position of influence. This cup bearer promised to put in a good word about Joseph to the king but forgot all about it once restored to his position. We do know Joseph spent 13 years in slavery and prison and during all this time he remained faithful and patient. As a result, with God’s perfect will being accomplished, Joseph was freed from prison and ended up becoming second in command behind the Pharoah.
Through his gift of interpreting dreams God used Joseph’s wisdom to save the lives of his family and all of Egypt who were under severe drought. Joseph really summed this up when he spoke to his brothers and said in Genesis 50:20, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives”.
I don’t know what you are going through right now but just remain faithful and patient, because God most likely has a purpose and a plan to use you to make a difference in the lives of others.
