Heaven, part 2
pastor corner

Heaven will be without the earthly calamities humans face each day. “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” ( Rev. 21:4). “And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Those who engage in the works of the flesh will not be there either”( Rev. 21:27).

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God” (Gal. 5:19 – 21). John wrote in Rev. 21:8 of the fate of such, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Who will receive the inheritance? The text gives the answer. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God Through faith” (1 Peter 1: 3 – 5).

God wants everyone to be saved, but He will not force one to obey him. It is up to man to make the decision as to whether he will follow God’s word. That decision should be seen as the most important decision a person will ever make because that decision will determine one’s eternal destiny.

Those who have obeyed the Gospel and are living faithfully will get the inheritance. All must become the sons of God (Gal. 4:4 – 7). All must obey the gospel plan of salvation and must remain faithful to God if they want to inherit heaven for eternity.
