Get clean from the inside out
pastor corner

This week I saw a news story that spoke of a man who had died from salmonella poisoning. It was reported that he had eaten a gecko as a result of a dare during a party.

A gecko is one of several animals that have what is known as a “salmonella gut” and if ingested can lead to a person rotting from the inside out.

This reminded me of how it is with our spiritual lives. Whatever is on the inside, whatever is in our hearts, will work itself out through our words and actions.

Jesus said in Luke 6:45, “The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.”

So, the question is, how does a person get a good, clean heart? The answer is by letting Jesus come into our life and clean us up from the inside out.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, the Living Bible puts it this way: “When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!”

The good news is that we have a choice concerning the life we want to live - we can ask Jesus into our life or we can reject him.

We can remain in a life with the old sinful heart or have a new one that desires to please God.
