Faith in Christ can declutter your life

Whether we like it or not, 2020 is here and seems to be moving along quickly. Many have made resolutions that statistics show rarely are kept. I do believe there are those who are serious enough about a desire to change that they mean business.

I think we all know at least some of the changes we need to make, but the problem is we need to get started and sometimes we need accountability.

One of my issues is that of hoarding – I think I might have use of stuff later on in my life that probably will end up of little or no value to anyone.

The scripture teaches us in Ecclesiastes 3:6 that there is “a time to keep, and a time to cast away.” Most of the things that the average person hoards is not going to harm anyone, except maybe if there is a huge fire, and most of the time it doesn’t involve sin.

However, there are things in our lives that need to be cast away that completely have to do with sin and can affect our relationship with God and our fellow mankind.

They can cause our lives to be unfruitful and ineffective as we attempt to fulfill God’s plan for our lives.

The writer of Hebrews states, “Let us lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

If this is true in your life, then you know which ones I am talking about.

Remember, it is not through our own effort that sin is removed and forgiven but by the working of the power of God’s Spirit in our lives. So this new year may we all make a full surrender of all to the one who loves us so much.
