As the GDOT braintrust works on plans to make driving in this part of Georgia drivable again, I thought I’d throw in my two cents with a song.
Here’s a first version. It’s called Dump Truck City.
My name’s Jeff Whitten And I wrote this ditty, We’re all living in Dump Truck City.
Chorus
Dump Truck City, Dump Truck City We’re all living in Dump Truck City.
Oh they’re rumbling down roads both east and west.
Hauling dirt and gravel’s what they do best. If you haven’t seen ‘em you’ve been under some rocks.
They are so many here they come in flocks.
Chorus
Dump Truck City, Dump Truck City We’re all living in Dump Truck City.
If you’re driving down the road don’t you know, They pull out in front of you and go real slow. They take their time cause dirt ain’t cheap, Ain’t much you can do but just say bleep (and your horn you beep).
Chorus
Dump Truck City, Dump Truck City We’re all living in Dump Truck City.
Some are blue and some are red, Some on the side of the road might be dead. Some are yellow and some are black, Sometimes it seems like we’re under attack
Chorus
Dump Truck City, Dump Truck City We’re all living in Dump Truck City.
Dump trucks dump trucks Everywhere Moving dirt and rocks over here and over there.
Chorus
Dump Truck City, Dump Truck City We’re all living in Dump Truck City.
Now you may like dump trucks and that’s okay, But I sure wish they’d stay out of my way.
Cause when you’re in a hurry is when they’re not, They’ll tie your commute into a knot.
They will make you late if you don’t leave early And leaving early can make you surly. One or two I can live with it’s the price we pay, For needed jobs and homes or so they say.
But there are hundreds out there all over the coast, Turning drives into toasted rump roast. They kick up rocks and they break windshields, They put giant ruts in muddy fields.
Chorus
Dump Truck City, Dump Truck City We’re all living in Dump Truck City.4
I guess I’ve said about all I can say, About the horde of dump trucks in my way. But if you’re driving a dump truck and you see me about, Do me a favor and don’t pull out. I’ve got places to see and work to do, And I’d like to get where I’m going before I turn 92.
Chorus
Dump Truck City, Dump Truck City We’re all living in Dump Truck City.
