Anticipating Christmas
pastor corner

With only a few days to go before Christmas, my guess is that a lot of children just can’t seem to wait for the day to get here.

They probably are counting the days, saying things like, “I wish today was Christmas.”

The sad thing is that there are parents who can’t wait till it’s over.

I do understand that the business and expectations can make this time of the year tiring, but it ought to be a joy if we have our priorities right.

You see, Christmas should be about giving, love, togetherness and fun, but the celebration of the birth of a Savior should be at the top of the list for the Christian.

Before the first Christmas there was that anticipation of a coming deliverer and Savior by those who worshipped Jehovah God.

This is why the shepherds were excited and went to see the Christ child and why later on the Wisemen were searching for Him.

We who are followers of Jesus no longer anticipate His coming as a Savior because we have Him in our hearts as Savior and Lord.

We do anticipate what He has in store for us in our spiritual journey and His second coming when He will come and reign as King.
