I was sitting in my office today and just happened to look down and saw a penny sitting on my desk. I picked it up and read the inscription around the top which said, “In God we trust.”
A couple of questions came to my mind. Do we still as a nation trust in God? Do we recognize him as our creator, protector and Savior?
David said in Psalm 91:2, “I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” The Lord had proven himself faithful in David’s life and had earned that trust. The Lord desires to show himself faithful to us and will earn that trust if a person gives him a chance to do so.
We should do our best to live lives so that others can put their trust in us, and for the most part others should be able to do so. The problem is, even with us doing our best, we still have the potential to fail because we are human.
Our government can fail us, our families can fail us and our friends can fail us. Problems we face in society are a result of sin and so society cannot fix itself.
God does not change and cannot disappoint or fail. He is the answer to all of our problems and fully trusting in him will change us and the society in which we live.
