Volunteers needed to help file taxes

Your help is needed to help taxpayers file their taxes free of charge.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) helps taxpayers save money by preparing their taxes free and help them claim credits, such as Earned Income Tax Credit, which boost their tax refund.

Help is needed in Richmond Hill, Pembroke, Hinesville, Effingham and Chatham County. Sites in Bryan and Liberty Counties will start in February and end mid-March.

Each volunteer will be trained free of charge to become IRS certified and can pick the location of his/her choice.

As a volunteer, you will help taxpayers get their money timely with options for direct deposit; help families increase their refund and you will enjoy the reward of giving back.

Volunteers are needed as front desk assistants and tax preparers.
