Looking for something to do on Friday night?

The Station Xchange folks hope you’ll want to join in at a free community event. Their first ever movie night in the park will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Station Xchange on Friday.

It will be the first of many local happenings, according to Brandi Williams, director of sales and marketing at the Xchange.

"Once each quarter we’ll be holding movie night, music in the park as well as local entertainment and a variety of other different events for the community," she said. "We’re not complete yet but we’ve had these ideas and we decided we wanted to get them started in the beginning of the year."

The Xchange is asking local residents to vote on which performance they would most like to see. For the first movie night, it’s between Rudy, Hook or Around the World in 80 Days. Voting will be cut off on Thursday evening.

"The movies are all family choices. These three are all movies with good messages and we think any one of them will be a good way to kick off the year," Williams said. "So tell us what movie you want to see and bring your chairs, coolers, blankets, picnic baskets and what have you. We don’t have any restaurants open yet in the Station Xchange, but we will by the next the next movie night. This week, just bring everything you would for an evening in the park."

To vote on which movie you and your family would like to see Friday night, call the Station Xchange at 756-2969 or email sales@thestationxchange.com.

"Instead of spending money on advertisements for the Station Xchange, we want to keep people in the center long after business hours, with events for people of all ages," Williams said. "These quarterly events will be a gift to the community and something that parents can do with their kids."

Future movie nights and other Station Xchange events will be advertised the week of, Williams said, inviting everyone in the community to get involved and enjoy what Station Xchange will have to offer.
