Bryan County 4-H’ers competed at the Southeast District/Area BB tournament and were right on target, finishing in 3rd place overall. Members of this team were Bobby Jacobs, Denver Snyder, Marcus Mitchell, Rachael Scott, Brent Nardella, Austin Schneider and Cody Bryson.

For BB competition, each 4-H’er must demonstrate proficiency in four shooting positions: prone, standing, sitting, and kneeling. Safety knowledge is also tested by completion of a written safety exam. In addition to those listed above, members of the Bryan County 4-H BB Shooting Program are Samantha Dopp, Amber Neagley, Josh Neagley, Collin Scott, Lindsey Stewart, Zachery Stewart, Spencer Colello, Morgan Lamb, Rebecca Scott, Scott Stewart, Elton Butler, Benjamin Hart, Randy Cooper, Houstin Schlernitzauer, Katrina Stillwell and Nicholas Bacon

Nardella excelled at this year’s district match winning first place in the sitting position and second place in the prone position.

Bryan County 4-H’ers have been practicing weekly for several months to get ready for this competition. To qualify for the State contest which will be held at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in May, teams of five to seven 4-H’ers had to shoot a score of 1500 or better. The top five shooters on a team constitutes the team score. Individuals had to shoot a cumulative score of 300 or better to advance to the state contest.

The BB Program is a part of the Georgia 4-H Shooting Awareness, Fun and Education Program (S.A.F.E.). The Georgia 4-H Foundation serves as the donor for the State BB competition. Locally, the team is supported by Bryan County volunteers and donors.

The truly dedicated coaches for these teams are Pat and Debbie Patrick, Sam and Becky Stewart, and Dennis Nardella. Parents of the 4-H ‘ers involved and teen leaders are the assistant coaches.
