Richmond Hill High School’s graduating class, joined by their family and friends, made the hour-long journey to Brunswick to receive their diplomas at Glynn County Football Stadium on Friday, May 16th.
Principal Bivins Miller gave his welcome first, following the customary Pledge of Allegiance and the presentation of the colors by the school’s JROTC.
In his speech, Miller noted that the class of 2025 will be the last class to graduate from the old school building, as Richmond Hill will soon move into a larger campus in the fall.
“Change is a part of the journey,” Miller said. “...But keep showing up, keep working hard, living the Wildcat way.”
Talia Mitchell, the Senior Class President, followed with the student address, giving thanks to family, friends, teachers, and coaches who have guided the class of 2025 in their lives so far.
Emma May, the class salutatorian, gave the Salutatorian address, urging her classmates to “don’t rush” their journeys, and made a reference to singer Natasha Bedingfield’s 2004 hit single “Unwritten”.
Two Valedictory addresses were then given by Jackson Riker and Cedric Yang, the class co-valedictorians. Both students drew upon personal anecdotes to encourage their fellow graduates to step back and enjoy their accomplishments as they move on to different stages in their lives.
Diplomas were then conferred to the graduates, and Superintendent Paul T. Brooksher headed the turning of the tassels before students processed out of the stadium.
