A Midway police officer found a missing Alzheimer’s patient at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at a truck stop in Liberty County.
The missing woman was Christina Hillman, 59, according to a release from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department. The department was not able to identify the Midway police officer,   SCMPD spokeswoman Gena Moore said.
“We don’t have a name. By the time we were notified (of her disappearance), she was at the hospital,” Moore said in an e-mail.
Hillman appeared disoriented and confused when the unnamed Midway police officer noticed her, according to the release. The officer checked to see if Hillman had been reported missing, but she had not been reported missing at that time, according to the SCMPD release. The officer then transported Hillman to Liberty Regional Medical Center.
Just before 5:30 p.m., Savannah police were notified Tillman had been found safe and was at the hospital in Liberty County, the release read.
SCMPD had earlier canvassed the area around the Berwick Lakes subdivision on Quacco Road in Savannah for the missing woman, according to the release. Chatham Emergency Management Agency personnel also joined the search.
