Nearly 70 percent of the more than 450 parents and students who responded to Richmond Hill High School’s survey on graduation chose to hold it May 24 at SSU’s Tiger Arena, assistant superintendent Dr. Trey Robertson told Bryan County school board members at a called board workshop Thursday at Black Creek.
The online survey offered graduating seniors and their parents two options: moving the ceremony to Wednesday, May 21, and keeping it at the Savannah Civic Center; or holding it on Saturday, May 24, at Tiger Arena.
Other venues were also discussed but dropped for various reasons, ranging from expense to distance to size.
The ceremony will apparently cost around $7,300 which prompted board member Dennis Seger to pass along questions he said were raised in the community about the need to hold RHHS’ graduation off campus.
