Members of Richmond Hill City Council tabled a developer’s request Tuesday night to move ahead with plans for a new subdivision in Richmond Hill Plantation off Sterling Links Way, citing concerns over what sort of homes national builder D.R. Horton will construct in the development which is to be called The Links at Ways Station.

The move was greeted with thanks by residents who live near the proposed development and attended Tuesday’s meeting at City Hall.

Council members said Tuesday they support the development and want to see it move ahead quickly, but need more information on what sort of homes will be built there and owe it to residents to find out before allowing the plans to proceed.

The developer, RHP Land Holdings, has already had a preliminary plans approved for a 50 home subdivision on some 13.56 acres called Fairways at Ways Station. They initially sought approve for an 86-lot subdivision, but have since dropped the number of lots to 78 to address council concerns over lot sizes.

Its’ unclear when the measure will be brought back before council.
