Board approves rezoning for boat storage

South Bryan will soon see a new boat storage facility on Kilkenny Road after a nearly 16-acre tract of land was rezoned Tuesday by the Bryan County Board of Commissioners.

During the regular meeting in the Administrative Complex, commissioner’s unanimously approved to rezone the land at 722 Kilkenny Road from its current A-5 (agricultural) zone to a WB2 (water commercial) zone. Frank Bowen with the Kilkenny Group applied for the rezoning with the intentions of building a six-pod boat storage facility.

County Engineer Kirk Croasmun told commissioner’s the Planning and Zoning staff believed the rezoning would be in compliance with the comprehensive plan, which calls for rural residential development in that area. The boat storage facility would supplement a community on the water.
