On Wednesday, Guerry Lumber announced a new partnership supporting local nonprofit organization People of Action Caring for Kids (P.A.C.K.), with a check presentation at their facility in Savannah ahead of Guerry Lumber’s 100th anniversary year in 2027.
Guerry Lumber announced the company’s commitment to sponsoring 100 local children through the organization's weekend food assistance program during the 2026–2027 school year. In addition to its financial support, Guerry Lumber employees will volunteer with P.A.C.K. each month, helping pack and distribute food to children and families in the Savannah community.
For Guerry Lumber President Will Wheat, the partnership represents an opportunity to celebrate the company's milestone by investing in the community that has supported the greater Savannah company for generations.
“As we look ahead to Guerry Lumber's 100th anniversary next year, we wanted to find a meaningful way to celebrate this milestone by giving back to the community we have been proud to call home for a century,” said Will Wheat, president of Guerry Lumber. “Our partnership with P.A.C.K. allows us to make a tangible difference in the lives of local children while also giving our employees the opportunity to get involved and serve alongside an organization doing such important work in our community. We are honored to support P.A.C.K. and look forward to seeing the impact of this partnership throughout the coming school year.”
P.A.C.K. works to address childhood food insecurity by providing nutritious food to children who may not have consistent access to meals outside of school. Through its programs, the organization helps ensure children have food to eat over weekends and school breaks, when they may not have access to school-provided meals.
“We are incredibly grateful to partner with Guerry Lumber as they approach their 100th anniversary,” said Malena Stone, founder of P.A.C.K. “Their commitment to sponsoring 100 children and volunteering with us throughout the school year will make a meaningful difference for local families. Partnerships like this allow us to continue our mission of making sure children in our community have access to the food they need to thrive, and we are grateful to have Guerry Lumber supporting us in this important work.”
The partnership between Guerry Lumber and P.A.C.K. will continue throughout the 2026–2027 school year, with Guerry Lumber employees participating in monthly volunteer opportunities in addition to the company's financial commitment. Together, the organizations hope to help ensure local children have reliable access to nutritious food while strengthening community connections through service.
