Exchange Club helps out United Way with check

The Richmond Hill Exchange Club presented the local United Way with a check for $600 at its meeting on Feb. 27. The donation will assist The United Way of the Coastal Empire in supporting many worthwhile organizations in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty Counties.

 Some of the local Bryan County activities supported by United Way include:


 Emergency Food Assistance

Provides families in need with emergency and supplemental food through local church food pantries.

 

Mass Mobile Food Pantries

Hosts food drops consisting of canned goods and meat products that are available for pick up at designated sites, on designated dates, in Richmond Hill and Pembroke.

 

Backpacks of Love

Provides nutritious supplements of non-perishable food to children on weekends and holidays to reduce the effect of childhood hunger and promote the growth of healthy, strong minds, and bodies.

 

Transportation Assistance

Assists low-income women with gas cards, allowing them to get back and forth to medical appointments, work, or job interviews (Funds provided by WOMEN UNITED’s Transportation Fund).

 

Emergency Utility Assistance

Provides referrals to families in need with emergency gas, electric, or water assistance.

 

Emergency Shelter & Service Referrals

Provides referrals/assistance to those seeking emergency shelter or persons who are homeless.

 

School Supplies

Coordinates school supply drive and provides donated supplies to students in need.

 

Haircuts from the Heart

Provides low-income residents and the homeless with vouchers from local hair salons and barbers for a free haircut/
