No major damage from Idalia

 Hurricane Idalia passed through Bryan County causing minor damage, according to county officials.

 Bryan County had no tornados, no reported injuries, and no major damage, spokesman Matt Kent. There were instances of trees downed and some damage to private property.

Less than 1,000 homes are without power this morning as crews continue to work to restore service. A National Weather Service Charleston, S.C., incident map shows the extent of the storm in surrounding counties.

No debris pickup will be offered by Bryan County for this event. The Atlantic Waste convenience centers on Fort McAllister Road just off Highway 144 and at 7392 U.S. 280 are available for yard waste at the normal rate.

Bryan County Schools are closed today and plan to be back in school on Friday, Sept. 1.
