Classic cars, food, dancing highlight February events at Fort McAllister

Fort McAllister is near the coast, east of Richmond Hill.

Mark your calendars in February for two events occurring at Fort McAllister State Historic Park.

Rides on the River features classic car owners invited to show off their amazing autos and meet fellow automobile enthusiasts. This event, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 is in cooperation with Richmond Hill Cars and Coffee.

The cost is $9 for visitors, but those who bring an auto will receive free admission for themselves and one other person and lunch will be provided for them along with all volunteers.

On Saturday, Feb. 8, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the park will offer a Valentines dinner and dance.

The night will feature a candlelit meal in the beautiful, historic setting with period music and dancing. Attendees will be able to take part in a fireside chat with historical interpreters.

The cost is $50 per person.

Fort McAllister is located at 3894 Fort McAllister Road in Richmond Hill.  It showcases the best-preserved earthwork fortification of the Confederacy.
