Chamber event to tackle ESPLOST, bond votes

The Richmond Hill/Bryan County Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly Coffee and Conversation event from 8-9 a.m. March 16 at Bubba’s Bistro in the Ways Station Shopping Center in Richmond Hill. The topic will be the county’s education special purpose local option sales tax (ESPLOST) and bond votes.

The event is free to the public, but RSVPs are required by Friday by calling 912-756-3444 or e-mailing info@RHBCchamber.org.

Dr. Paul Brooksher, superintendent of Bryan County Schools, will be the guest speaker and will share information on the upcoming ESPLOST/bond votes on March 21.

Bryan County Schools has grown by more than 2,300 students over the last 10 years and is projected to grow by almost 4,000 additional students over the next 10 years.

The Bryan County Board of Education is asking citizens to vote on March 21 to authorize the renewal of ESPLOST and the sale of up to $100 million dollars in general obligation bonds to build new schools to accommodate for growth.
