In an effort to increase adoptions, Bryan County Animal Control is now using Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet to showcase adoptable pets locally and nationally.
These free services centralize the dogs and cats currently in shelters into one searchable online database, instead of requiring citizens to visit the shelter first.
Bryan County adoptions are $25 per pet and are required to be spayed or neutered, if of age, within 30 days of adoption. The National Spay Alliance is currently offering spay and neuter surgery of adopted pets free of charge to the adopter until the end of November. Adopters will still need to pay for rabies vaccination, permit, take-home pain medication, and a cone, if wanted, for their new pet.
Animal Control Manager, Laura Lewis said, “It is a huge advantage to have all of our great pets on the website. Now everyone can see these wonderful dogs and cats online and hopefully feel moved to take them to their forever home.”
