From Bryan County Sheriff’s Office reports:
Abandoned vehicle: A deputy on patrol around 3:30 a.m. Sept. 28 was doing a security check on a Highway 80 gas station when he saw a blue 1998 GMC pickup driven by an older white guy pull into the gas station and “park at pump #4.”
Then a white Lexus with a yellow spare tire in the back seat pulled up behind the pickup, the pickup driver got out and got into the car, and it sped off toward Bulloch County.
The deputy ran the VIN number of the pickup and it came to back to a Georgia man and tag, but “the vehicle had no current owner and/or registration/or valid insurance.” And there was a 20 foot flat bed trailer attached to the pickup, and it didn’t have a tag either.
The deputy had the pickup and trailer towed, since it might’ve been stolen.
Matter of record: Deputies were sent to a North Bryan address around 11:13 a.m. Oct. 1 because a man thought his female roommate had drugs. The man said he hadn’t been able to get hold of the woman since the day before and had seen papers showing she had failed a drug test. He also said the woman “wanted to give a massage with a happy ending to (the employee of a convenience store), and when she returned to the house he was kicking her out.”
A deputy explained the eviction process to the complainant, and told him if he didn’t follow that process his roommate could sue him. He agreed to follow the process and asked that a report be made.
Damage to property: A Richmond Hill man reported Sept. 30 someone damaged bricks he had bought to build a fence and had stacked in his front yard. The man told a deputy a neighbor told him she saw “two unidentified teenage white males operating a golf cart and strike the stack of bricks,” the report said, noting, “the two males freed the golf cart from the pile of bricks and fled the scene.” There was no video of the incident and the man was given a report.
Matter of record: A deputy was sent to a Richmond Hill gas station regarding an argument between a man and his step daughter. The 39-year-old man said they were driving on I-95 when the vehicle’s gas light went on so he got off at exit 82 and “a verbal argument erupted between him and step daughter over his driving behavior. He said the argument continued as he got gas but additional details were not included in the initial incident report.
Oct. 2 Failure to maintain lane, no license or proof of insurance: A 40-year-old man pulled over in the wee hours of the morning on Highway 17 for weaving turned out to be a designated driver driving others who had been drinking. He didn’t speak English, didn’t have a license and his wrist was hurt. He was checked out by EMS and then taken to jail.
Oct. 2: A man reported a utility trailer was stolen from a Highway 80 construction site.
Harassing communications: A Richmond Hill woman reported another woman was harassing on social media and by phone.
Oct. 1: DUI drugs, expired registration, no insurance: A 48-year-old man stopped on I-95 around 1 a.m. when his license plate set off a deputy’s “automated license plate recognition system” admitted to smoking marijuana earlier and failed a field sobriety test. He also didn’t have insurance on car. He was arrested, his car was towed.
DUI alcohol, failure to maintain lane, etc: A 28-year-old man whose car was spotted crossing the center line around 4:10 a.m. on Highway 280 was pulled over. The man said he had just got off work at a Savannah restaurant but failed a field sobriety test and a breath test. He was arrested, his car was towed.
Speeding, no license: An 18-year-old man clocked going 84 mph on Highway 204 around 6:48 a.m. didn’t have a license. A deputy told him “that he would be going to jail and to have a valid driver come and get the vehicle.” A valid driver came and got the vehicle and the teen went to jail.
Civil matter: Deputies were called to an Ellabell address regarding a dispute between siblings over water and an eviction.
Reckless driving, speeding, etc: A Maryland man clocked around 12:25 p.m. going 103 mph and recklessly changing lanes on I-95 in a car with an Oregon tag was stopped around mile marker 81. His license turned out to be suspended. He was arrested.
Suicide threat: Deputies responded to a Richmond Hill address regarding a suicide attempt. The woman was taken to Memorial by deputies.
Criminal trespass: A couple living in a vehicle at a Highway 280 truck stop and using the store’s electricity for roughly two weeks was asked to leave the parking lot. The 23-year-old man and 18-year-old woman left.
Sept. 30
Warrant: A man and woman walking down the side of Highway 280 around 3:30 a.m. were stopped by a deputy who thought they looked suspicious. A check showed the 37-year-old man was watned by Bulloch County. He was arrested and turned over to Bulloch County deputies.
Unwanted person: A South Bryan woman called deputies on her 33-year-old son, saying she didn’t want him removed from the property because he was drinking. He was given a ride to a Richmond Hill address.
Damage to property: A woman reported someone on Highway 280 shot her windshield with a BB gun.
Failure to stop at a stop sign, no license: A 28-year-old man ran the stop sign at Toni Branch Road and Highway 280 around 1:30 p.m. in front of a deputy’s car. The driver turned out to have a suspended license and was arrested.
No license, improper turn, window tint: A man driving a car with tinted windows was pulled over for making a left from the middle lane of Highway 144 onto 17 and was stopped. He didn’t speak English and gave the deputy a passport and ID tag made in North Carolina. He was arrested. His car was towed.
DUI – drugs, failure to maintain lane, etc: A 22-year-old woman driving around 10:48 p.m. on Highway 17 in Richmond Hill with a missing tail light while also failing to stay in her lane and leaving the left blinker on was stopped and arrested she failed a sobriety test, etc. The driver reportedly admitted to smoking pot about 10 minutes before she was pulled over.
No license, no insurance, more: A car stopped on I-95 around 10:40 p.m. because the deputy’s tag recognition system alerted on it for not being insured turned out to be driven by a Brunswick man with a suspended license. The man was also cited for window tint.
Criminal trespass, drug related object: A 52-year-old man banned from a Highway 280 store for nearly three years was arrested after he was found at the store with a glass pipe in his sock.
Sept. 29
Suspended license, warrant: A 58-year-old man was arrested in Ellabell for driving without a license and having three outstanding warrants.
Abandoned vehicle: A vehicle sitting on the side of I-16 since Sept. 26 was towed.
Damage to property: A man reported he sank his boat on the Ogeechee River. No one was injured.
Matter of record: A deputy was sent to Memorial Hospital regarding a possible case of child abuse.
Harassment: A Pembroke woman reported her daughter was being harassed by another student at Bryan County Middle High School.
Sept. 28
Warrant: A man wanted in Liberty County was arrested in Richmond Hill.
Animal complaint: An Ellabell man reported two dogs got into his pig’s pen and bit the pen. “He then called Central Dispatch and advised the two dogs once again got into the pen and he shot and killed both dogs.” The dogs owner were unknown. He got a case number.
Matter of record: A woman reported she was driving on I-95 near mile marker 82 when a white man wearing a beige hat and driving a red Ford Pickup pointed a gun at her as he passed. She did not know the man, the report said, but she gave deputies his tag number. Deputies looked on I-95 but couldn’t find the pickup.
Domestic Dispute: A deputy was sent to a Richmond Hill address regarding an argument between a father and son over the son’s desire to buy a pickup and the dad saying no. Both parties agreed “to separate for a few so they all could calm down and talk about the situation later.”
Sept. 27
Traffic violations, DUI drugs, drug possession: An 18-year-old with a Florida driver’s license and driving a Saab was arrested on multiple charges after he was stopped on Highway 280 around 1:27 a.m. Deputies found cocaine on the teen, who also failed a sobriety test. He was arrested.
Suspended license: A 35-year-old Savannah woman was pulled over around 6:20 a.m. and arrested for driving on a suspended license. Her license had been suspended in June 2021, the report said. The deputy cited the woman and waited an hour for the woman’s husband to pick her up at her request but ultimately took her to jail to wait.
Fraud: A Richmond Hill woman reported someone claiming to be a process server left a message on her husband’s cell phone saying he was trying to collect a credit card debt and telling him to call a toll free number. The call came from the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office number.
Damage to property: A man in Ellabell reported damage to two fence posts.
Identity theft: A woman went to BCSO in Pembroke to report someone was using her social security number.
Theft: A Uber driver reported a 17-year-old customer from Richmond Hill took his wallet.
Theft: Deputies were called about an underage man trying to buy THC oil and nicotine vape cartridges with his mother’s ID at a Highway 280 gas station. The man was charged with theft, attempting to buy dangerous drugs by fraud and possession of tobacco to minors at the request of his mother.
Domestic: Deputies were sent to an Ellabell address regarding an argument between a husband and wife.
Sept. 26
Theft by deception: A Richmond Hill man reported he found out a motorcycle he bought had been stolen when he tried to get insurance for it. The man said talked to the man who sold it to him and was told “that’s unfortunate.” Deputies tried to “make contact at the offenders residence but it was advised he was active duty military and was in the field.”
The case was turned over to a detective.
Wreck: A deputy was sent around 10:14 p.m. to a single vehicle accident on Highway 17 where a man was trapped under the vehicle. Georgia State Patrol took over.
Lost mislaid property: An employee at a Highway 280 fast food restaurant reported she lost a $100 bill from her purse.
