BCFES recruit class for 2021 set to begin

Four graduating seniors have been chosen as candidates for the upcoming Bryan County Fire & Emergency Services Recruit Class starting in June/July. 

Gabriel Alonzo, Cale Blocker and Cameron Sardinas from Richmond Hill High School, and Alan Gilks from Bryan County High School signed their letters of intent last week. The recruitment signing is  acknowledgement of their intent to accept the job offer contingent upon successfully passing a NFPA physical that will occur after they received a high school diploma.

Bryan County High School hosted its first year of Fire Science via CTAE (Career, Technical, & Agricultural Education) pathway under the direction of Battalion Chief Victoria Pape & Training Chief Shannon Bancroft. The other instructors that have devoted their time to this class are Battalion Chief Sean Curry, Lieutenant Sarah "Sam" Bradbury, Firefighter Cody Croft, Firefighter Jerome Bacon, Firefighter Phillip Seigler. 

BCFES has joined in partnership to ensure these students have the opportunity to experience realistic training with the intent to potential offer these students a job after graduation. Gilks was one of the Fire Science students. 

Richmond Hill High School has an EMR (First Responder) program via CTAE pathway. Alonzo, Blocker and Sardinas have been a part of this program.
