Authorities investigating deaths
Pair of bodies found at Hwy. 144 address near Smith Road

The Bryan County Sheriff's Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are looking into the deaths of two people at 20500 Hwy. 144 in South Bryan, according to a press release sent Tuesday afternoon.

 "Authorities responded to a call at the above address at approximately 1 a.m. on May 25 and discovered the residence on fire," the release said. "(I)nside were located the deceased bodies of a male and a female. The bodies were taken to the GBI crime lab in Savannah for autopsies."

 No further information was immediately available "pending completion of the investigation, identification of victims, and notification of deceased persons next of kin," according to the release.

Bryan County Emergency Services director Jim Anderson also said Tuesday afternoon that no additional information is available regarding the structure fire.

 

The street address is located near Smith Road east of Keller.
