The following students from Bryan County achieved academic honors and/or graduated from these institutions:

Furman University -- Margaret Nivens of Richmond Hill was included on the dean’s list for the 2019 spring semester. Furman’s dean’s list is composed of full-time undergraduate students who earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher on a four point system.

Georgia State University -- Allison McCallum and Marshal Preston, both of Richmond Hill, earned bachelor’s degrees during the spring 2019 semester. Students were honored during the university’s 104th commencement exercises on May 8-9.

Several Bryan County students were recently named to the president’s list at Georgia State University for the spring 2019 semester: They are: Apurv Patel of Pembroke, Armando Acosta, Jessica Burer, Tiaras Polite and Taylor Wilson, of Richmond Hill, and Kreshae Green of Fort Stewart.

 To be eligible for the president’s list, degree-seeking students must have earned a GPA of at least 4.0 for a minimum of nine semester hours of academic credit taken at Georgia State during the fall or spring term with no incompletes for the semester. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for all classes taken at Georgia State.

Several Bryan County students were also named to the dean’s list at Georgia State University for the spring 2019 semester: Allen Flint of Ellabell, DeWayne Stewart of Fort Stewart, Andrew Kilmer, Jaqueline Foley, Jazlyn Martin, Mackenzie Gilliland, Maya Greene, Makayla Nudo, Marshall Preston, Sarah-Lois Tanifum, Tiara Gandy and Zoe Robertson of Richmond Hill.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, degree-seeking students must have earned a GPA of at least 3.5 for a minimum of nine semester hours of academic credit taken at Georgia State during the fall or spring term with no incompletes for the semester. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for all classes taken at Georgia State.

Georgia Tech -- Jacquelyn Buelow, Mason Murphy and Dany Shwayri, all of Richmond Hill, earned the distinction of faculty honors for spring 2019.

This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have a 4.0 academic average for the semester.

Also, Veronica Thompson of Richmond Hill made the dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester at Georgia Tech. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have a 3.0 or higher academic average for the semester.

Piedmont College --Kristy Lightsey of Richmond Hill was named to 2019 dean’s list for the spring semester. Students named to the dean’s list finished the semester with a GPA of 3.55 to 3.99.

University of Alabama awarded some 5,716 degrees during its spring commencement May 3-5. Among the recipients

are: Kaitlyn Ashley Green of Richmond Hill, Bachelor of Science in education, Samuel L. Impavido of Richmond Hill, Bachelor of Science in commerce and business administration.

University of South Carolina Aiken -- LaTesha Brandon of Richmond Hill earned a Bachelor of Science in exercise and sports science. Brandon graduated with the Class of 2019 on May 8 in the USC Aiken Convocation Center.

Valdosta State University -- The following students from Richmond Hill were recently named to the dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester: Samantha Filer, Hayley Glausier, Rachel Lindow and John Tucker.

Students who achieve a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on nine or more semester hours with an institutional grade point average of 3.00 or higher are recognized by being placed on the dean’s list.
