Referred to by Simon Cowell as the next Taylor Swift, 12-year-old ukulele player Grace VanderWaal, who captured hearts across America in her first televised audition, performed again on NBCs Americas Got Talent stagethis time in the quarterfinals.

As she finished the performance of her original song, Beautiful Thing, the young singer-songwriter from New York brought all three judges to their feet.

Wow. Definitely a beautiful thing, said Nick Cannon, the host of Americas Got Talent, after VanderWaal had finished her song.

According to a video interview with Teen Vogue, VanderWaal didnt start singing in public until about a year ago.

I kept going to coffee shops, doing open mic nights, and I slowly got better, she told Teen Vogue.

Americas Got Talent features talents from people who come from a variety of backgrounds and ages.
