Weekly FMWR briefing for Feb. 6

Events being brought to Fort Stewart by FMWR include a weightlifting competition, the BIG Power Lifting competition.

Registration is under way for the BIG Power Lifting Competition, offering competitors the chance to compete against others in their weight class, will be at the Newman Fitness Center starting at 10 a.m. on March 19.
Would-be champions can register until the day of the event. The early fee is $10 and rises to $15 after March 11. For more information, call 767-3031/9336.
The competition will consist of three lifts: squat, bench press and dead lift. Lifters will compete for trophies in their particular weight class.

Marne Book Club at Hays Library
You're invited to Marne Book Club (for adults 18 and over) from 7-8 p.m. Feb. 16 at George P. Hays Library, building 411.
Soldiers, family members, retirees and Army civilians are introduced to new authors, ideas and can participate in book discussions. February's book is "The Emperor's Tomb" by Steve Berry.

Emerald Princess Trip
Register by Feb. 16 for a gambling cruise aboard the Emerald Princess II Casino out of Brunswick at 4:30 p.m. Feb.19.
The cost is $10 for active duty soldiers and $15 for all others. Price includes a light meal and a return-to-port snack aboard the four-deck, 200-foot ship.

Register for Trip to the Daytona 500
Register now for a trip to see the Daytona 500, billed as NASCAR's biggest, richest and most prestigious race. The sign-up deadline is Feb. 18 and the race is on Feb. 20.
Forty-three of the best stock car drivers in the world will compete in what is called "The Great American Race."
The cost is $65 per person, which includes transportation on a luxury motor coach bus and a tailgate party with food. Tickets for the race can be purchased through Leisure Travel.

BOSS Deep Sea Fishing
Join fellow soldiers and friends for some deep sea fishing off the coast of Georgia from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Feb. 19. The cost is just $60 per person for this BOSS-sponsored opportunity, but you must sign up by Feb. 16. For more information, call 767-9917.

Storytime: Observe Black History Month

Registration for Pheasant Shoots at Stewart
Registration will close Feb. 24 for Pheasant Shoots to be held March 5 at the Taylors Creek DZ off Highway 144 West on Fort Stewart.
Pheasant shoots that were to be on Feb. 19 have been canceled.
Twenty shooters for a morning hunt and 20 for an afternoon hunt will be chosen by lottery. Half of the slots will be given to active duty military.
Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield soldiers, retirees, Army employees and sportsmen from the surrounding community can register for the lottery drawing at the Stewart Pass and Permit Office, building 8093, or the Hunter Pass and Permit Office, building 1286. There is no charge to register.

Freedom Trail Tour in Savannah

Youth Track & Field/Spring Soccer Registration

Youth Sponsorship Cumberland Island Trip Registration
CYSS registered youth will travel to Cumberland Island Seashore from 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. March 26. The great barrier island off the Georgia coast is known for its wild ponies, pristine beaches and forests, Dungeness Castle and First African Baptist Church.
Trip is designed for CYSS registered youth (grades 4-12) to learn more about their surroundings and meet new friends. Registration begins Feb. 14 and continues through March 24.
The fee of $10 includes transportation, ferry crossing, and child supervision.
Tickets can be purchased at Parent Central Services, 912-767-2312 (Stewart) or 912-315-5425 (Hunter). No refunds granted after March 24 and a $5 cancellation fee will be applied after March 24 or for no-shows.

Redeployment Golf Membership Drive
