The Wildlife Photo Contest will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 8 at Stewart Pass & Permit Office, building 8093.
One prize will be awarded per person for first, second and third place in the age groups 2-5, 6-10, 11-15 and 16 and older. A separate award for active duty Soldiers will be presented.

Getting ready for holidays at Hays Library

Youth Action Council meeting
Military connected youth in grades 6-12 are welcome to attend the Youth Action Council meeting at 5 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Fort Stewart Youth Center, building 7338. The meeting previously had been scheduled for Dec. 2.
Youth will be able to discuss quality of life issues affecting them on Fort Stewart and develop opportunities for volunteering and civic support. Pizza will be provided after the meeting.

Holiday Hayride at Hunter
An old time Holiday Hayride will be held in the Hallstrom Lake Recreation Area - decorated with holiday lights - at Hunter Army Airfield from 6-9 p.m. Dec. 10.
The event will feature 10- to 15-minute hayrides through New Savannah housing area; rides of approximately 10 minutes on Hallstrom Lake in a decorated boat; showing of a holiday movie in the large pavilion and campfire sing-alongs.
Hungry? We'll roast marshmallows and make s'mores. We'll also be serving popcorn, hot chocolate and hot apple cider.

Holiday Hayride at Stewart

The Holbrook Pond Recreation Area, decorated especially for the occasion, will be the scene of a Holiday Hayride from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Dec. 11 at Fort Stewart.
The evening of Family Fun will include rides on a decorated boat around Holbrook Pond, holiday movie showing in the large pavilion, and a 10- to 15-minute hayride following a trail in and around the Holbrook Pond area.
Free refreshments will include popcorn and hot chocolate or punch, depending on the weather. We'll also roast marshmallows and make s'mores.
In addition, hot dogs and drinks will be sold. The cost for a hot dog, chips and drink will be $2.

Holiday Brunch at Stewart
Advance tickets are on sale now for the Holiday Brunch to be served from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Dec. 12 at Club Stewart, building 405. Santa Claus will be a special guest.
The menu will include breakfast items, apple crepes, ham carving station with assorted rolls and condiments, turkey with giblet gravy, cornbread dressing, baked chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, candied yams, collard greens, Prince Edward Island Blend, cranberry sauce, assorted desserts, chocolate fountain, hot apple cider and mimosas.
Prices in advance are corporal and below $10.95 for adults, $5.47 for children 5-10. Sergeant and above $12.95 for adults, $6.47 for children 5-10. All children 4 and under are free.

Big Buck Contest registration extended
The registration deadline for the annual Big Buck Contest has been extended by Pass and Permit to Dec. 31. The cost to enter remains the same - $25 per person.
Two bucks may be entered, but only one will be scored. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winner. A cash award, deer mount and a free hunt/fish pass will be awarded to the Active Duty Soldier with the highest buck scoring.
Register at the Fort Stewart or Hunter Army Airfield Pass & Permit Office. The Stewart office is in building 8093 and the Hunter office is in building 1286.

Fraser firs sale
North Carolina-grown Fraser Firs are on sale through Dec. 19 on Gulick Avenue next to the Burger King. A portion of the proceeds supports Soldiers and Families through the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Directorate.
Hours of operation are 3-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Travel to shop
Get into the holiday spirit by taking a shopping trip to Tanger Outlets on Hilton Head Island Dec. 11 with Leisure Travel Services. The cost is $20 per person.
Registration will end Dec. 8.
For some extra holiday fun, join Leisure Travel for a trip to the Jacksonville Zoo on Dec. 18. Registration will end on Dec. 15. Santa will make an appearance at the zoo.
The cost of $20 for adults and $13 for children includes ticket and transportation.

Win a holiday turkey or ham
Every Thursday during November and December, test your shooting skills starting at 5 p.m. at the Fort Stewart Skeet/Trap Range at Holbrook Pond. You just might take home a turkey or ham.
There are four ways to compete:
• Standard paper plate target with small dot in the center. Cost is $3.
• Get 5 paintball shots on the poker board. Several mystery prizes are hidden on the board. Cost is $5.
• Trap turkey shoot. All shooters will begin at position 1. Those who hit their target will move to position 2. Shooters who miss will have an opportunity to buy back into this game for $1, but will have to hit the target from position 1 to continue. Last shooter left will be the winner. Cost is $5.
• Bad guy paintball shoot. Five shots on the poster with designated scoring areas. The cost is $5.

Thunder Run
Come on out and relax at Thunder Run in Club Stewart during our new weekly events.
Visit us every Monday during football season starting at 5 p.m. until the game is over and enjoy our a la carte menu.

Join us every Saturday, when Thunder Run opens at noon for all of our sports lovers. Stick around after the games are over, because starting at 9 p.m. our DJ will spin the latest hits for you to enjoy. We'll remain open until 3 a.m.
On Sundays, Thunder Run opens at noon for sports lovers and will remain open until 11 p.m. Beginning at 7 p.m., all of our music lovers can enjoy "Old Skool" hits until 11 p.m. Parental Advisory: Alcohol will be served.
