Stewart players to present Hitchcock take-off

Auditions for "Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play" are set for Friday and Saturday.

Auditions will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday 10 for the Fort Stewart Community Theater’s first production of "Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play."

All auditions and call backs will be at Newman Fitness Center. Two women and three men will be cast. Be prepared to read from the script. It’s a plus if you are comfortable making sound effects. The troupe is also seeking production support.

Aerobic-thon

Sample various aerobic styles that are taught by certified instructors at the an Aerobic-Thon and Wellness Fair at 9 a.m. Saturday at Newman Fitness Center. See kick-boxing, step, zumba, line-dancing, pilates and more.

The fair features fitness assessments, including body fat measurement, nutritional information, President's Challenge information, health screenings and wellness center presence.

Sight-in

Soldiers, retirees, Army civilians and guests canb sight-in any caliber rifle from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Red Cloud Range Complex-Echo, off Highway 119. This is for rifles only and they must be registered on Fort Stewart. Steel and paper targets will be up. Cost is $10 per two-hour block/person. For details, call 435-8061 or 767-4316.

 

Range closed

Due to maintenance and environmental work in the B4 training area, the Pass and Permit Rifle Range will be closed Jan 17 19 and 24.

Brews and Bites

Brews & Bites, at 6 p.m. Jan. 15 in Thunder Run, is a chance to give your taste buds a treat as you try heavy hors d’oeuvres paired with brews produced by Service Brewing Co. of Savannah.

The evening also will give you a chance to chat with a Service Brewing Company sommelier as you experience new tastes in featured brews and might awaken the beer connoisseur in you.

Club Stewart’s master chefs will prepare the hors d’oeuvres.

Six sampling stations are planned. The event can accommodate only 75 people, so buy your tickets in advance at Club Stewart before the Jan. 12 deadline.

The cost is $40 per person. The public is welcome.

Bowling center celebrations

Stewart Bowling Center will celebrate Ben Franklin Day and Martin Luther King’s Birthday with discounts, from 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Jan. 17 and from 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Jan. 19, respectively. Ben’s offer to bowlers is shoe rental for just a penny. MLK’s special is a Penny per Point total games bowled. Shoe rental is extra. Here is how it works: total points bowled for all games per person is what you pay.

Dinner, bowling

Families can take advantage of discounts on dinner and bowling from noon-8 p.m. Jan. 25 at Stewart Bowling Center. For $30, your family of five, gets two games of per person, shoe rental and dinner. For more information, call 767-4273.

 

Monday play days

Starting this month, Mondays are play days at Cypress Sam’s Treehouse for children 0-5 years of age. Bring the little ones out for extra fun from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The cost is $2 per child. For more information, call 767-4273.

 

Daytona 500 tickets

Sales of Daytona 500 tickets are under way at the Stewart/Hunter Leisure Travel offices. Prices vary depending on seats. For more information, call 767-2841on Stewart or 315-3674 on Hunter.

Tickets are available for the Budweiser Duel and Sprint Fanzone Race on Feb. 19; the Daytona 300 Xfinity Race and Sprint Fanzone Race on Feb. 21 and the Daytona 500 and Sprint Fanzone Race on Feb. 22.

 

Rink closes

Corkan Family Fun Center is closed until March 1 while the skating rink flooring is replaced and new barrier walls are constructed.

Building 449 also houses the laser tag and bounce houses. They will not be available during construction.

The work will not affect Cypress Sam’s Treehouse Indoor Playland, Cypress Creek Adventure Golf, and Stewart Bowling Center. All will operate on their normal schedules.
