Scottish heritage celebration Saturday
Scots Highlanders of Darien 1736
The Highlanders of Colonial Darien and other re-enactors are expected to be on hand Saturday a the Scottish Heritage Day at Fort King Georgia to demonstrate what life was like for many of the first European colonists who lived in the area. There is to be a battle re-enactment at 3 p.m.

Return to the 1700s at Fort King George State Historic Site in Darien Saturday.

There will be cannon and weapon firings, Scottish games, a battle re-enactment, Native American weapons and skills, blacksmithing and more. At 10 a.m., sample fresh bread as dignitaries, re-enactors and staff unveil a new, brick oven. Lunch can be purchased from Molly MacPherson’s Scottish food truck.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The park is at 302 McIntosh Road SE in Darien. Admission ranges from $4.50 to $5.50. For more information, call 912-437-4770 or go to www.gastateparks.org/fortkinggeorge
