Post-wide yard sale is Saturday

Everyone, military and civilian is invited to the neighborhood garage sale throughout housing areas on Stewart and Hunter from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

Only residents of post housing are eligible to sell. Residents had until Monday to register their sale to be noted on the Stewart/Hunter FMWR website.

Gate passes for civilian guests may be obtained two days in advance from Gate 1 at Stewart and Montgomery Street Gate at Hunter. For more information, call 767-8238 on Stewart or 315-5078 on Hunter.

 

Work at club

Club Stewart, including Thunder Run, will continue serving its customers, but asks their patience during a six-week floor resurfacing project now under way.

Thunder Run lunch customers will enter through a small side door to the right of the normal doors.

Access to the ballroom, Palmetto Room, Patriots Lounge or Liberty Room will be through the north entrance, use the north side parking lot, closest to Sixth Street. The north entrance also provides access to the temporarily relocated catering and reservations offices.

Modified scramble

Play in a four-person modified scramble at Taylors Creek Golf Course starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. Players can sign up that day of play, but are asked to register in advance. The $40 per person cost includes greens fee, cart and range balls. For more information, call 767-2370.      

 

Golf Blitz

The Monday Blitz at Taylors Creek Golf Course begins Oct. 5 and continues through Dec. 14. Tee off between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Play is open to men and women and will cost $23 per person. Participants must play 8 of the 11 weeks to qualify for the Championship Monday, although everyone who plays on Monday qualifies for daily prizes that day. A nine-hole point system will be used. Kayak trip

Enjoy the great outdoors on a Leisure Travel Kayak Float Trip starting at 9 a.m. Oct. 10 on a Coastal Georgia waterway. 

The cost is just $20 per person and includes transportation. Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Paddlers must be at least 12 years old. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch.

Destination unknown

Register by Oct. 14 for a destination unknown trip to Jacksonville at 4 p.m. Oct. 17. Where will you go? Here’s a hint: don't fear the animals, but there are other creatures lurking. Range shooting

Soldiers, retirees, Army civilians and guests can site in large caliber weapons from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 17 at Red Cloud Range Complex Echo. Bring your rifles or muzzle loaders of any caliber, no pistols or shotguns. Targets at 100-500 meters will be paper and at 750-1,000 meters steel. Cost is $15 per two-hour block/person. Warrior Challenge   

Register now for the CrossFit Fort Stewart Warrior Challenge on Oct. 24 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Caro Fitness Center. The cost is $30 per person through Oct. 15 and $35 per person from Oct. 16-22.

Contestants in eight divisions must complete three high-intensity workouts. For more information, call 767-4763.

 

Managed hunts

Soldiers and retirees can sign up for one of three Outdoor Recreation managed deer/hog hunts on Fort Stewart this season. Sign up at the Stewart or Hunter Pass and Permit offices.

An Oct. 24 hunt will be in Red Cloud Complex and the deadline for registration is Oct. 12. The second hunt will be Nov. 7 in the Delta Area and the registration deadline is Oct. 26. The third hunt will be in the Bravo Area Dec. 19, with a selection drawing on Dec. 8.

There will be 45 slots for soldiers and five for retirees. You can put your name in for all hunts, but you can go on only one hunt. A $25 fee per hunter is payable upon selection.
