Kids Fishing Derby set

The Richmond Hill Exchange Club’s 22nd annual kids fishing derby will run from 8 a.m.-noon June 2 at the Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery on Ford Avenue.  

Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with fishing beginning at 8:30 a.m. The derby is free to children ages 15 and younger who are accompanied by parents or an adult guardian.

Participants should bring fishing poles as well as bait. A limited amount of bait and fishing poles will be available for use free of charge. Free hot dogs and Coke products also will be available at no charge for participants, courtesy of Roger Wood Meats and the Savannah Coca-Cola Bottling Co.

Awards for children 12 and under will be presented for several categories, including first fish caught, most total pounds and heaviest fish. Awards include $50 savings bonds and/or trophies based on age groups.

Parents or guardians should complete an official entry form for each child and bring it to the derby June 2. Get entry forms at www.rhxc.org/fishing.htm.
