Childcare service is available on Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. As of May 11, available spaces at Fort Stewart were two infants, 58 pre-toddlers, 42 toddlers, six preschoolers, 35 school age children, and three middle school/teens. On Hunter, space was available for 25 pre-toddlers and two toddlers. Additionally at Hunter, summer camp vacancies are 50 school age children and 38 middle school/teens.

Summer hours at Corkan
Summer hours go into effect on May 20 and continue through July 31 at Corkan Family Fun Center as well as Cypress Creek Splashpark and Adventure Golf. For information, call 767-4273.
Here are the schedules:
Stewart Lanes will be open Sunday from 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m.; Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Appointments for other hours can be made to accommodate parties.
Cypress Creek Splashpark and Adventure Golf, weather permitting, Mondays and Fridays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. for “Toddler Time at Splashpark;” Daily hours will be 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Private parties may be scheduled.
Corkan Family Fun Center, Thursdays from 1-7 p.m.; Fridays from 3-9 p.m.; Saturdays from noon-9 p.m. and Sundays from noon-7 p.m. Holidays hours will be posted. The center is closed Monday-Wednesday. Center will open by appointment for special functions.
Cypress Sam’s Treehouse will be open Monday-Saturday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. for “Toddler Time” for ages 0-5. Daily hours for children ages 0-12 are 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. The Treehouse also will be open by appointment for special functions.

Splashpark’s Opening Day
The fun starts May 18 at the Splashpark at Cypress Creek. Bring the kids and be prepared to watch them have a ball getting wet.
Opening day hours are 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Normal hours are 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. with “Toddler Splash” for ages 0-5 on Friday and Monday from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Armed Forces Kids Runs
America’s Armed Forces Kids Runs are planned at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield in support of Armed Forces Day on May 19. Registration closes Friday (May 18) for each event.Stewart and Hunter youth ages 5-13 can participate in the non-competitive runs. Ages 5-6 will run a half mile, ages 7-8 will run one mile and ages 9-13 will run two miles.
Fort Stewart’s run will be at Jordan Youth Gym in conjunction with the Get Fit… Be Strong Fitness Tour. It will be followed by a Community/Family Fitness Day.
The event is scheduled from 9 a.m.-noon.
Jump rope athlete Buddy Lee and his team will do a presentation. Winners during Buddy Lee’s youth jump rope contest get $200 and $300 prizes.
T-Shirts will be awarded to all youth participants. Parents may run with their children if they wish.

The Hunter run gets under way at 9 a.m. on a route near the corner of Steven Douglas and North Perimeter roads. Kids running will receive T-shirts.

International Championship Wrestling
International Championship Wrestling will present a five-match event at Newman Fitness Center at 7 p.m. May 19.
The two-hour event will feature Scotty Too Hotty vs. Shawn Daivari, Mackinzie York vs. Becky Kennedy, John Saxon vs. Steve Anthony, Scott Phoenix vs. The Purple Haze and Zane Stevens and Big Hoss vs. Rex Andrews and Justin Overstreet.

Tots Big Wheel Derby
Stewart Lanes Bowling Center will have its first "Tots Big Wheel Derby" from 4-7 p.m. May 21. An obstacle course for tots in the parking lot will allow all little ones who bring their trikes to show us their stuff.
Youngsters can have fun participating in the derby or just watch others.

Operation Purple Camps
Applications for Operation Purple camps are available through the National Military Family Association website.
The OPC program gives military children, ages 7-17, the tools to help deal with the stress from a parent's deployment. Priority will be given to children whose parents deploy between Sept. 11 and Dec. 12 and who have not been to an Operation Purple Camp.

Summer Reading Program
Registration begins May 30 for the Summer Reading Program at George P. Hays Library. There’s no charge. The program is for children up to age 12.
The theme is “Reading Is Sooooo Delicious.” It runs June 1-July 27, meeting from 4-5 p.m.
Participating children get a reading bag and reading lists.

Registration ends May 31 for a Youth Sponsorship kayaking trip to Skidaway Island State Park on June 2.
The trip is for CYSS-registered Fort Stewart and Hunter youth in grades 5-12. They will learn how to kayak and will explore the inter-coastal waterways near Skidaway Island State Park.
The cost is $15 per person. Register at Parent Central Services, 767-2312 on Stewart and 315-5425 at Hunter. A $5 cancellation fee will be applied after May 31 or for no shows.

All-Army 10-Miler Qualifier
Registration is under way for the All-Army 10-miler Qualifier Race, scheduled for June 2 at Donovan Field. Soldiers may earn the right to represent the Third Infantry Division in this prestigious Oct. 21 run in Washington, D.C.
The Stewart/Hunter qualifier will begin at 5 a.m. Qualifying is for soldiers only, but family members are welcome to run with their soldiers. There is no charge.
Two vans will carry Hunter soldiers to and from the race. The vans will leave Tominac Fitness Center at 3:30 a.m.
Hunter participants have until close of business on May 31 to notify personnel at Tominac. The number is 315-2019/5078.
Registration will be accepted on the day of the race from 4-4:45 a.m. at the track parking lot.
Participants can sign up in advance at the Bennett Sports Complex from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, or by calling 767-8238.
The top six runners in each of the following groups will represent the division: men's open, women's open, men's masters (40 and older) and women's masters.
Teen high adventure camp
Registration will close June 7 for the action-filled Teen High Adventure Camp, June 17-22 in the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina.
The annual trip is sponsored by the Fort Stewart and Hunter Child, Youth and School Services and is open to CYSS-registered youth 13-17.
Youth can learn lifetime outdoor skills through activities including two white-water rafting trips, tubing, zip-lining and hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
Family style meals, cabins and activity fees are included in the $150 per person.
