Members of the Richmond Hill-based Off Broadway Dance Studio Competition Team became stars of their own Disney show on March 14, when they entertained resort guests at the Waterside Stage in downtown Disney.
They traveled to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida to take part in the Disney Performing Arts Program.
The dance members, under the direction of Susan Hayes, entertained Disney Park guests from around the world right in the heart of Downtown Disney, giving dance members the unique experience and opportunity to shine.
The experience also elevated their performance skills at a high-profile venue.
The group’s performance included pieces by Rascal Flatts, Shinedown and music from the Disney Channel original movie “Teen Beach Movie.”
The dance ensemble also took part in a “Disney Dancin’” workshop during their visit.
They began with a simulated Disney audition led by a professional Disney dancer then learned how the magic is created as they went through a rehearsal of a real Disney show
This was the group’s first visit to the resort with the Disney Performing Arts Program.
Vocal, instrumental and dance ensembles from all around the world apply to perform each year as a part of Disney Performing Arts at both the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort.
Once selected, they are given the opportunity to perform at the resort for an international audience of theme park guests.
Millions of performers have graced the stages of the Disney Parks in the more than 25-year history of the program.
