The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society asks area residents to wear mismatched socks in recognition of World Down Syndrome Day Monday.

The day is to celebrate the differences that make us all the same.

LDSS is a support group to benefit people with Down syndrome and their families through outreach, education and advocacy. It is affiliated with the National Down Syndrome Society.

You can celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by:

• Wearing two mismatched socks and explaining to anyone who notices that it is the differences that make us all the same.

• Posting picture of your socks to your Facebook page. Tag the photo using #LDSSGA #differentabilities #WorldDownSyndromeDay

• Challenging two friends to join in.
