Infuse your wardrobe with stripes, lace, the classics and a great-fitting pair of white jeans. Get obsessed with great-looking, smooth, healthy and sun-kissed skin. Businesses in Richmond Hill are offering seasonal advice on style, fashion and beauty trends so you look your best through the summer months on the coast.
“Dresses of crisp, menswear-inspired cottons as well as soft Peruvian cotton are cool and comfortable in the hot summer months,” said Carol Batastini, owner of Stella Rose Clothing & More Boutique at 11254 Ford Ave. in Richmond Hill. “For that classic European look, a shirt dress made of Italian cotton is a timeless piece for a casually elegant style.”
Kylie Phillips from Stella Rose said, “A great-fitting pair of white jeans can be rolled up and worn with a flat sandal or a wedge and a nautical-inspired striped tee. One of my favorites, a loose lace overlay top with a cami underneath is an easy way to update a day to night look.
“Thin belts, printed scarves and cuff bracelets are the accessories of the moment.”
Of course, we want to make sure our skin looks its best for the swimsuit season, whether we are taking the kids to the beach, relaxing at a friend’s pool or going to a hotel on vacation.
Catherine Garrido, the owner of the Milan Day Spa at Villages on the Hill, 3766 Hwy. 17 in Richmond Hill, recommended a refreshing exfoliating body scrub and microdermabrasion facial to prepare the skin for summer. And of course, she also reminded that using a high-protection sunscreen is vital.
“At this time of year, a lot of our clients are concerned about removing unwanted body hair,” Garrido said. “We always advise professional waxing, which offers relief from shaving and razor bumps. We offer all hair-removal services for male and female clients – from unwanted back hair for the men to Brazilian bikini waxes for the ladies.”
Batastini and Phillips shared some of their new favorite items.
“We’ve found a line of scarves made in Africa,” Batastini said. “This is a project to help women not allowed to work have an income. A personal message is written on the hang tag of each scarf.”

“Grooming of the hands and feet is very important right now, so don’t forget to have regular manicures and pedicures,” Garrido said. “New nail polish colors complement seasonal trends; the new Pirates of the Caribbean OPI collection sparkles for hot summer nights.
“We now offer online booking at www.milansalondayspa.com, so you can make your appointment at any time of the day or night.”
