Dec. 5-6: Movie Night Under the Stars — The Ice Cream Stop in Richmond Hill invites the community to a free family fun night of movie watching under the stars. Friday evening’s showing will be a PG-rated movie, and Saturday night’s movie will be rated G. The movies will begin at dusk. Guests are asked to bring lawn chairs. Dec. 5-18
“Light-Up the Hill” Holiday Decorating Contest — To entice people to shop, dine and play locally, the Chamber of Commerce is having a store-front decorating contest for all businesses. A voting contest will take place on the Holly Days on the Hill Facebook page.  First place will receive two sponsor tent passes and one parking pass for Friday and Saturday of the 2015 Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival. Second place will receive $100 cash or a donation to a charity. Third place will receive a case of wine. For more information, call the chamber at 756-3444.

Dec. 5
Chili Cook-Off — From 6-8 p.m., the 13th annual Chili Cook-Off will take place at J.F. Gregory Park. Judges will decide who has the best chili in town. The grand prize winner will receive a trophy and $350; first runner-up will receive a trophy and $200; second runner-up will receive a trophy and $100. Third runner-up will receive a trophy and $50, and trophies will be rewarded for people’s choice in two categories — best chili and best booth design. Craft and other food booths will also be at the event.

Dec. 6
Christmas Parade — Richmond Hill will have its 19th annual Star Spangled Christmas Parade featuring several high-school bands, Fort Stewart’s 3rd ID Marching Band and Color Guard and the Alee Shriners. Candy will be passed out to children, and Santa Claus will make an appearance. The parade starts at 10 a.m. The route will begin on Maple Street, continue on Cherry Street down Ford Avenue, make a right turn into Richard Davis Drive, and continue onto Cedar Street before ending in J.F. Gregory Park. For information, call 756-3345.

Lighted Boat Parade — Come check out all the boats decked out in the Christmas spirit at Fort McAllister Marina. The parade begins at 6 p.m. This is the 24th year for the boat parade.

Pet Pictures with Santa Claus — Families and their pets are invited to PawParazzi Pet Boutique, located at 11360 Ford Ave., to have their pictures taken with Santa from 12-4 p.m. Pictures are $20 and digital copies will be an additional $5. All proceeds from the event will go to the local animal shelter. There will be face-painting, free dog treats and pets available for adoption at the event. Dec. 7
Holiday Tour of Homes — This self-guided tour will last from 1-5 p.m. and includes eight locations to be visited. Tickets are $30 per person if purchased early. Tickets purchased on the day of the event will be $35. This price includes tea at St. Anne Catholic Church. To purchase tickets in advance, contact the Richmond Hill Historical Society Museum by calling 756-3697 or email Richmondhillhistoricalsociety@gmail.com. The day of the tour, tickets will be available at the museum by cash or check.

Dec. 11
RHMS Holiday Chorus Concert — This concert, which begins at 7 p.m. at Richmond Hill Middle School, is free and open to the public.
