Jan Joiner of Joiner Daylily Gardens shared her wisdom about growing daylilies at a recent Richmond Hill Garden Club meeting.
Joiner’s presentation included a slideshow featuring examples of unusual daylilies Joiner Gardens have created through cross-pollination techniques.
Joiner gave away two daylilies and demonstrated how daylilies can be separated and planted. She challenged the group’s members to add the special flowers to their own gardens, and to “spread the joy” by sharing any future cuttings with friends and neighborhoods.
The meeting also included special recognition of the club’s longtime members. The group included Marilyn Mueller, a member for over 24 years; Dorothy Ebert, 23 years; Nancy McAuley, 20 years; and Frances Meeks and Mary Delong, who have been members of garden clubs for more than 50 years.
The Richmond Hill Garden Club’s next meeting, set for April 10, will include a field trip to the Armstrong University gardens.
