Yes, it’s that time again, when people are running over each other to get a gift for a friend or love one.
Many are competing to see who will have the best decorated home with lights and ornaments. Some are at their wits ends, wondering how they are going to get their kids gifts for Christmas. Men, women and children are depressed because they can’t get what they want for Christmas nor can they be with whom they would like to be for the holiday.
Let’s not forget that the real meaning of Christmas is Christ. We have the best gift, which is Christ the Lord. The Bible says in John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not  perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
Wow. Are you saying that all I have to do is accept Christ as a gift, and he’ll come into my heart? If we receive Christ as God’s gift to man, as an added benefit we can have everlasting life and abundant life. The enemy, Satan, wants us to feel cheated, lesser and depressed this holiday and every day, but Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
I encourage every man to receive God’s gift to man, Christ the Lord, this holiday season.  Don’t just receive the gift — share him with others, because this is the real meaning of Christmas showing love in action and displaying it. During this time of the year, we think of ourselves more than others. Isaiah 9:6 says, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.”
Christmas is a time of celebrating and embracing Christ; receive ye Christ the Lord. The decorations are beautiful and the gift exchanges are good, but let’s focus on him and others during this time, as opposed to focusing on ourselves. We have the best gift that is Christ. Share him throughout this holiday period and every day, and the world will be a better place.
What love the father has placed on us that he gave his only son, the son Jesus Christ loved us so much that he gave his life as a ransom for us. Receive him today because he will be whatever gift you need him to be today — mother, father, sister, brother, money, an attorney, a doctor and so much more.
The song writer summed it up with an old song titled “I’ll Take Jesus for Mine.”
