Scott graduates basic; Pearl ROTC course

Army Pvt. Duncan J. Scott has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

He is the son of Clare Scott of Nelson Drive, Richmond Hill and brother of Bridget Scott of Perkiomen Ave., Reading, Pa. Scott is a 2006 graduate of Richmond Hill High School.

 

Brian D. Pearl has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) Leader’s Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky.

The 28-day course is a leadership internship for cadets who are normally between their sophomore and junior college years. College students experience and examine the Army without incurring an obligation to serve in the Army or ROTC, and are eligible to receive two-year college scholarship offers and attend the ROTC Advanced Course at their college.

Pearl is a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta. He is the son of David A. and Mary K. Pearl of River Bend Road, Richmond Hill. Pearl is a 2005 graduate of Richmond Hill High School.
