The Richmond Hill High School National Honor Society induction ceremony scheduled for Oct. 19 has been changed.
The ceremony will instead be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Nov. 9 in the RHHS cafeteria.

Story time
Pembroke Public Library will be having a story time at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, at the library. We will be reading Halloween stories and also coloring Halloween pictures. It will be geared toward toddler and pre-school ages.

Fall festival
First Baptist Church of Blitchton will have its fall festival from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at 5204 Highway 80, Blitchton.
Come out for a chili cook-off, hot dogs, hayride, games, prizes, candy, cakewalk and lots of other fun stuff.

Bamboo festival

The Bamboo Farm and Coastal Garden will have its Fall Family Festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Sponsored by the Friends of Coastal Gardens, this fundraising event includes plant vendors, arts and crafts vendors, pony rides, hay ride, petting zoo, face painting, many educational booths and a unique state Department of Natural Resources hands-on wildlife exhibit.
Admission to the festival is free, but there will be a $2 charge for parking. Some activities are free while others have a small per-person charge.

Workshop

A community workshop, sponsored by the City of Pembroke, will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the J. Dixie Harn Community Center.
Representatives from American General, Georgia Farm Bureau, State Farm and Primerica will be available to answer your questions.
Light refreshments will be served.

Fall festival
The Richmond Hill United Methodist Church will hold its annual children’s Fall Festival from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, at the church at 9050 Ford Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
The Fall Festival will include carnival games, inflatables, hayrides, airbrush tattoos and much more. Attendees can even bring their own pumpkin to carve for our Pumpkin and Costume Parade, which be followed by “trunk or treating.” Hotdog, chip and drink meals will be available for purchase for $2 per person.

Fundraiser
Calling all runners and walkers. Come support the Mission Project 3 (MP3) of First Baptist Church in their fundraising event for the Romanian Mission Trip at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 23 in J.F. Gregory Park.
This will be a family event with bouncy houses and fun at the park. Childcare will be available for runners and volunteers. Please RSVP, as availability is first come, first served.

Casting call
The department of Film and Television at the Savannah College of Art and Design announces an open casting call for more than 40 short films to be produced in early 2011.
The casting call is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Adler Hall, 532 Indian St. in Savannah.
All ages and ethnicities are encouraged to attend. No stage or film experience is necessary. Please bring head shot and resume if applicable. Speaking and non-speaking roles are available for a diverse range of actors.

Pet costume contest
PawParazzi in Richmond Hill will hold a pet costume contest beginning Tuesday, Oct. 26, and all proceeds will go toward a new Boy Scout Explorer Post for veterinary sciences at Richmond Hill High School.
Bring your costumed pet to PawParazzi starting Tuesday, Oct. 26, to get pictures taken for the contest. Then friends and family members can vote for their favorite costume just by using their change – one penny equals one vote. The costume receiving the most votes wins the grand prize.  
On Saturday, Oct. 30, Boy Scouts and High School teams will show their talents at a carnival at PawParazzi, 11250 Ford Ave., Richmond Hill, GA starting at noon. Local celebrity judges will also pick costumes based on their choices. All winners will receive prizes. Winners will be announced at 4 p.m.

Blood drive

A community blood drive will be from 1-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Pembroke United Methodist Church social hall, 102 North College St.
Participate in donating blood or platelets between now and Dec. 31 and enter a drawing to win one of two pairs of roundtrip Delta Air Lines tickets.

Health seminar
A 2010 Women’s Health and Empowerment Seminar will be held Saturday, Oct. 28 from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Pembroke Senior Center, on Hwy. 280, next to Subway. This seminar is for women of all ages. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. There is a $10 registration fee. Come and get revived by enjoying the fun.

Trick or treat
Halloween may fall on a Sunday this year, but city officials are encouraging kids to go door to door on Saturday, Oct. 30, instead.
In Richmond Hill, Halloween will be celebrated from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 30 within the city limits.
In Pembroke, Halloween will be celebrated from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 30 within the city limits. There will be other events sponsored by the North Bryan Chamber of Commerce, including a pumpkin carving contest, and also a Halloween party at the teen center.

Fall-o-Ween

Skidaway Island State Park will have its Fall-o-Ween Festival from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, and 2-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the park at 52 Diamond Causeway, Savannah.
On both nights there will be a chilling haunted trail starting at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, enjoy an afternoon of spooky kids crafts, pumpkin decorating contest, fun family games and food. Also join in hayrides and trick-or-treating.
Register before Oct. 27 for trick-or-treating. The park features hiking trails, interpretive center, playgrounds, picnic areas and a campground.
Tickets will be available to purchase the weekend of the event. Parking is $5 per vehicle.

Golf tourney
Pembroke Christian Church will hold its fourth annual Robert “Red” Bowers Golf Tournament at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Black Creek Golf Course.
The cost is $300 per team of four and $100 for hole sponsors. Lunch will be served at 11:30 for participants.
