Libraries closed
The Bryan County libraries at Pembroke and Richmond Hill will be closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  They will reopen at 10 a.m. Jan. 22.


County workshop
The Bryan County Board of Commissioners will hold a workshop at 8 a.m. Jan. 26 at Fire Station 7, 5995 Highway 204 in Ellabell.
The purpose of the workshop is to discuss goals and priorities for 2013.
The public is encouraged to attend.


Tree board meeting
The Pembroke Tree Board will meet at 4 p.m. Jan. 23 at City Hall. The public is encouraged to attend.

History event
Fort Morris State Historic Site will host Sunbury and the War Between the States from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 26 at the site in Sunbury.
The 8th Georgia Infantry as well as the 25th Georgia Altamaha Scouts will be present to demonstrate and interpret the life of a Civil War soldier at Sunbury. Presented on the hour will be various demonstrations, including musket and cannon firing, drills and soldier talks.
The cost is $3-4. The park is located seven miles east of I-95, Exit 76, via Islands Highway and Fort Morris Road. For more information, call 912-884-5999.


Tax office closed
The Bryan County Tax Commissioner’s offices in Pembroke and Richmond Hill will be closed Feb. 6 for staff training on Georgia’s new title ad valorem tax.


Volunteers needed
Hospice Savannah is seeking homecare volunteers in Bryan, Liberty and Effingham counties and will host two training sessions Feb. 2 and Feb. 9.
