The Richmond Hill Garden Club will host author Robbie Williams at its January meeting. Ms. Williams lives in middle Georgia and is widely known as "the Flower Lady" for growing, selling and loving beautiful flowers. She will speak about her most recent book "A Few Flowers For My Soul." Arts on the Coast
Everyone is invited to celebrate the New Year with Arts on the Coast by getting involved in the arts in our coastal community. The group's next general meeting is Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. at Magnolia Manor in Richmond Hill. AOC member Carol Hartley will speak about her recent trip to Italy and her grandfather’s history as a sculptor there. Jacki Scott, chairman of the drama group, will speak about the programs she has planned for this year. Arts on the Coast’s meetings are always open to the public.
Deacons Ordination Services will be held Sunday, Jan. 13 at 3 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Claxton, for Bro. David Hampton, Bro. John Jones and Bro. Charles Milton. Dr. C.L. Anderson, pastor of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Daisy, will deliver the message and Rev. Freddie Hodge will bring the charges to the church and to the candidates. A fellowship repast will follow. Rev. John L. Leggett is the pastor. Deacon J.C. Banks is the Deacon Board Chairman.
Craig MacFarlane will speak in Richmond Hill at the Exchange Club at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 23. With 103 gold medals in sports that include water skiing, golf, track and field, and ice-skating, his achievements earned him speaking roles at three Republication National Conventions, and he has been profiled by Bob Costas.

Are you interested in learning about the environment around you? If so, you may want to take the Master Naturalist course.
Cost of the program is $175 which will include all materials necessary for the course, plus several other manuals to make your learning experience more enjoyable and easier. This fee does not cover transportation. Fee for applicant’s spouse is $100. Only one set of books per couple. This program is presented by the Coastal Georgia County Extension Offices.

AL Post 27
American Legion Post 27, Richmond Hill, meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce office in the Brogdon-Speir Building. The executive board meets at 6 p.m. All vets are invited to attend, whether members or not, to see what the post does for Richmond Hill and soldiers overseas.
AL Post 164
American Legion Post 164, Pembroke, meets the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. The Ladies Auxiliary also meets at the same time. The post is located on Highway 280 west, approximately ½ mile past Harvey’s on the right. All veterans are invited to attend. January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month and You Need Fitness is conducting a fitness boot camp at Lake Mayer Park in Savannah on Saturday, Jan. 27 beginning at 11 a.m. The cost is $25 and proceeds will go to the National Cervical Cancer Coalition to help fund research in the fight against the disease.
