Richmond Hill Middle School has talent.
The Wildcat Winds Band, led by Dr. Emery Warnock, has already been distinguished this year in its invitation to perform for the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference in Savannah on Jan. 27. Now they have proven themselves again.
Twenty students from RHMS were recognized as being among the best in the region, with seven of these students taking first chair. From that 20, 10 were recognized as being talented enough to compete at the state level.
On Jan. 8, four of those competing – Cameron Brooks, on clarinet, Matthew Cruz on percussion, Christina Smith on trumpet and Tamara Snyder on saxophone – made it to the Georgia All-State Middle School Band. This means they are among the best in the entire state of Georgia.
