The Richmond Hill Garden Club is now taking applications from Richmond Hill High School seniors for its annual $1,000 college scholarship.

Applicants for the scholarship will be judged on several criteria: academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, volunteer projects, innovation and enthusiasm, and a 250-word essay. The deadline to apply is March 16.

Applicants do not need to have any prior association with the garden club.

The winner must enroll in a two-year or four-year college, university or technical college, either in Georgia or out-of-state and be working toward an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.

The winner must also plan to major in a field related to environmental concerns, plants and/or gardening, including (but not limited to) horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, landscape architecture, environmental design, environmental horticulture, botany, biology, plant pathology/science, forestry, agronomy, environmental science, urban and rural planning, wildlife science, habitat or forest ecology, land management, nursery management or arboriculture.

Interested students should contact Jennifer Blanton’s office at the RHHS for details and help with completing the application process.
