Liz Quon, a second-grade teacher at Richmond Hill Elementary School, has been chosen as Teacher of the Year for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Principal Walt Barnes sang Quon’s praises, saying she has an ability to bring out the best in her students and peers alike.

“She’s just a special person. She’s got a really neat personality, people are drawn to her and she’s just got a really good way about her,” he said.

According to Barnes, Quon has a gift for classroom teaching.

“She’s able to work with multiple levels of students—those who are struggling, gifted students—she’s an excellent communicator with students, peers and with parents.”
