Lanier Primary School students recently joined in the Christmas spirit of giving by participating in a canned food drive during the week of Dec. 10-14.

The primary students brought in more than 600 cans as a part of a schoolwide initiative to help support the local food pantry. Members of the Bryan-Evans Retired Educator’s Association also joined in the cause with a donation of canned goods during their recent visit to LPS for their December meeting.

“Our students had a great time participating in this canned-food drive, and we hope it will make a difference for many families this holiday season,” LPS assistant principal Jeff Hodges said. “We view the food drive as an opportunity for students to develop compassion for others and a giving spirit.”
