Lanier Primary School recently hosted several events to honor the past and present members of the military.
The school hosted its annual Veterans Day program Nov. 4.  Students in Stacie Gay, Erin Warren and Alison Holcombe’s classes performed for veterans and parents.  The students sang many patriotic songs, including the songs for each branch of the military.
LPS second-grade students wrote support letters to some of those currently in Air Force basic training.  Basic training lasts 8.5 weeks, with the only contact with the outside world coming through the mail.
Joanie Kohler helped to organize the activity, collect the letters and ensure that they were sent to the correct location.
Jeff Hodges, LPS principal, said the school’s faculty and staff are appreciative of military personnel and their service.
